A Short List of Extremely Useful Travel Advice and Tips
There are many different advice and tips around the net, which would keep travelers away from trouble if they read them beforehand. In this article I have created my list of the most useful travel advice and tips checked by my own experience. I hope you will get benefit from them.
#1. Packing tip. Create your own checklist of things you need and use it every time you pack your backpack. It will help to pack fast and not to worry about missed stuff. No time to create such list – use this one.
#2. Money-saving tip. There are a number of services that can save you money starting from cheaper transportation (blablacar.com, wizzair.com etc.) to free accommodation offered at counchsurfing.org. It’s just the matter of desire, believe me, whether or not you really want to save.
#3. Safety tip. Research the area you plan to stay in advance, get proper travel insurance, wear appropriate clothes, keep an eye on your belongings. Don’t bring valuables, don’t carry too much cash, don’t walk at night alone. Minimize the potential risk and you will be fine.
#4. Itinerary tip. Download offline maps of your target destinations to your phone in case there is no chance to have Internet connection. Save your itinerary on the phone as well
#5. Fun tip. Get off the beaten path and follow your heart. It’s okay to visit the most famous places but if you would like to experience a country, seek out hidden gems and unusual places. Make sure to have enough time to discover more than a regular tourist. Be unique. Feel the symphony of travel!
Advice #1. Travel light. Just set up a rule to take only things you need and need only those things you have taken. To save more space in your bag, roll clothes – it minimizes creasing and free twice more space.
Advice #2. Book your flight on a weekday morning and in advance. Unfortunately, transportation on a long distance is the most expensive part of traveling. Nobody wants to pay a fortune for it but we don’t have a teleport machine yet. So, from my experience, the best deal tickets I booked were in the middle of the week usually in the morning and minimum 2 months before a trip.
Advice #3. Save copies of your travel documents online. It’s always good to have a back up plan and to be ready for unpredictable situations. It’s simple as that to email yourself the copy of your passport, bookings and so on.
Advice #4. Be careful with buying liquids in a duty free of a connecting flight. When traveling to an international destination with a connection, it is best to buy your duty-free items on the last leg of your trip when you do not need to pass through any more security checkpoints. Otherwise, the liquid will be confiscated.
Advice #5. Don’t plan too much. Each city requires time to feel its charisma. Do not rush. Usually when we hasten, we don’t notice the most important part. Thus, let your mind plunge into the atmosphere and enjoy the moment.
